PTK IS BACK AT UNM-GALLUP

August 24, 2021 - After several years of silence, UNM-�糵�պ�’s PTK chapter, Beta Tau Psi, is going strong again here at our campus. With eight members and the hope of inviting more qualified UNM-�糵�պ� students, we are looking forward to supporting and celebrating our best students on our campus.

If you are not familiar with PTK, it is the “official honor society of community colleges” and its mission is to “recognizes students for their academic excellence in the classroom and their effort to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher.” If you want to learn more about our chapter, take a moment and explore our web page on the UNM-�糵�պ� website: https://www.gallup.unm.edu/phi-theta-kappa/

Since the revitalization of our PTK chapter under the leadership of our dean of instruction, Dr. Dan Primozic, and associate professor of English, Dr. Carmela Lanza, two student members have been awarded prestigious scholarships. Teracita Martinez, the 2020-2021 chapter treasurer, has been selected as a 2021 Coca-Cola Military Leaders of Promise scholar, and Alicetina Hosteen, the 2020-2021 PTK chapter president, has been awarded the 2021 Hakes Brothers Scholarship. We congratulate both students who have excelled academically at our campus and who have also been active members in their communities.
